Because if *I* don't remember it...it never happened, right?

We had some people over yesterday.  And, as people sometimes do, we reminisced a bit.  We were talking and laughing....when Hubby pipes up with this,  "Hey!  Do you remember when So-n-So came to dinner?"

I responded with a no.  Because I certainly do NOT remember So-n-So; much less the fact that he came to dinner at our house.

Hubby persisted, "Of COURSE you do!  Remember?  We talked about this and that?!"

Me: "No."

Hubby kept on; supplying details of the conversation, what was served, etc.....so SURE that I'd remember.....

Eventually, he gave up and remarked in frustration, "Just HOW do you forget a whole PERSON!?  A whole body; hair and teeth and everything!"

Easily, apparently.

In my defense, IF the alleged dinner actually took place where and when Hubby claims - then Man-Child would have been old enough to remember this guy (AND his wife - so, obviously, I've forgotten TWO persons!) and he doesn't.

So to my thinking, this dinner never happened and Hubby is delusional.

OR.....somehow I have passed along my faulty memory to my child....

Nope, I'm going with Hubby being delusional.  It works for me.

  1. Bwhahahahaha. I have conversations like this all the time with my husband. And ya know what? I think he's crazy every single time. It's the men- NOT us.

  2. My memory stinks. I'd probably forget a person too.

  3. That's hilarious! My husband and I have had almost identical conversations. My husband is definitely delusional. Though, I'm glad I'm at least writing a few experiences down on my blog. I may be a little forgetful too. :)

  6. Oh dear....I have a memory like that too. I think you may have to contact said person for peace of mind! ;) xx

  7. I wonder why it was so important to you that you remember it? Maybe because he was worried that it was a dream and never really happened... :-)

  8. Sorry to say I have the same problem. I can't tell you how many times someone has recounted a whole evening to receive only a blank stare from me...

Where do you suppose my mind was for that whole evening?!

  9. That is hilarious...I have conversations like that all the time, but usually it's the kids trying to remind me of something which I have no recollection of at all!

I go with your husband being delusional too!

  10. "Hubby being dellusional" this is good. I will try this to make my husband stick with his low salt diet. Will try cooking without any and it is not my cooking, it is his thinking. Then he can add the sprinkles he is allowed.

  11. I do this ALL the time. I used to ask my husband to tell me about stuff we'd done and people I'd met because I couldn't remember them.

Then we had a baby, and now he doesn't remember either...It's hopeless.

  12. I have NO MEMORY whatsoever. And that's my story.

Now, don't forget to reach out, okay??

  13. If you don't remember, it didn't happen. You have actually cancelled out the reality of said event through your lack of remembering. If I ever have dinner at your house and then cease to exist, I am going to be furious.

  14. Or it could be that the person wasn't that interesting. Highly unlikely. I'm sticking with my first theory.

  15. I had no idea how many other people were dealing with delusional hubbies! :)

  16. Not to worry you, but there is such a thing as early onset dementia...teehee! I'm kidding! I think you're a busy lady who has had a few brain cells sucked away from child rearing. They never come back which means you'll never remember so-and-so.

  17. Oh I am so guilty of this! Do you think it's a woman thing, we just don't have room in our brains for some people.movies, leftover thoughts? lol

  18. I wonder if this "delusional hubby" is contagious, cause mine caught it somewhere too.
