In a nutshell, not much.
Well, that's not really true. There has been a LOT of things but most aren't notable or are just too complicated to delve into just yet.
The Husband - I know this is a subject that everyone would like to get an update on. He is doing SO well. He started PT at the beginning of this month and has made tremendous progress since then. We had a session today and his trainer today was able to show him just how far he has come in such a short time. Which really, was not only an ego boost for The Husband but also boosted his confidence levels quite a bit. I think, especially after the falls, his confidence in his abilities took a major hit; so this was good news indeed. In fact, she pretty much told him to ditch the walker - unless he was going for LONG walks - and to just use the cane and try to walk around the house without either as much as possible. His oxygen levels are staying consistent - even though he has pretty much given up on the supplemental oxygen. Yes, he thinks he is a doctor now. But as long as those levels are staying up; I'm not going to argue too very much. Particularly, as he is continuing to sleep well, as we all know that was a major issue before.
In other news, our dishwasher. Our damn dishwasher AGAIN, it's always something with this darn appliance. While The Husband was in the ICU, I noticed that our floor next to the bar was starting to buckle. It vexed me and I had someone come out and take a quick look. It was determined that it was something; but most likely I could worry about it later. So that's exactly what I did. I put it out of my mind since I had other, more pressing things to worry about at the time.
I should note here, that while he was in ICU, I NEVER used the dishwasher, not once. I didn't need to - it's not like I was cooking gourmet meals for one over here. Basically, I used one coffee cup, one glass and one bowl. So I just hand washed everything.
Of course, once The Husband came home, the warping quickly became an issue once he noticed it. So, we had a plumber come out, thinking surely, there must be leak under the sink somewhere (since the sink is connected to the bar) - even though I took everything out and couldn't find any water.
The plumber took a look and could not find a leak. He crawled under the house and noted that there was some water damage to the subfloor (great). Then he took off the dishwasher floor plate and noted that the insulation was damp. His opinion? The dishwasher was leaking. But, since he's not an appliance guy there was nothing he could do.
So we had the home warranty people send out an appliance guy. The guy who showed up is the same guy who came out and replaced the motor in the dishwasher this past spring. He is the nicest, most professional guy and I hope they send him out for any and all appliance repairs in the future. What a lovely human, he is.
He found the leak all right. Somehow, a HOLE was punched into the floor of the dishwasher. Who can say how the hole came to be, but he did inform us that it was NOT due to the usual wear and tear, hence not the home warranty folks' problem. Now, in my estimation that hole could not have been made by say, accidentally dropping a knife that was intended for the utensil compartment. By my estimation, you would have to have taken out all the racks, and STABBED the hell out of that floor in order to create a hole. But what do I know? I'm not an appliance repair person.
At any rate, we are now in the market for a new dishwasher. For what it's worth though, the appliance guy suggested that we get a Frigidaire with three sprayers; no bells and whistles. He said they rarely need repairs and they work great. And, of course it goes without saying, this particular model is currently out of stock near us. *sigh*
And so, in the meantime, we have been eating out much more than we should and for everything else, the hand washing continues.
And, if we ever get that squared away; then I suppose we need to look for a floor guy next. Homeownership, ain't it grand?
