Honestly...

The other morning found me arguing with IT over whether or not I should have access to a server that *I* asked them to create in 2018.

Really.

And this is why I archive each and every email that I send or receive.  Because of that I was able to shut down their argument fairly quickly.

But my question is - WHO is just randomly looking at servers and deciding who should or should not have access without asking questions?

This is not a a disparagement on our IT team since they have been phenomenal in getting us up to speed for the majority of us working from home.  If it weren't for them, most of us would have had to work in office for the past ten months.  But still...

And without a proper segue we turn to Target's deliveries...

What you can or cannot have delivered from them varies, literally, day by day.  One day, those Cascade pods that you put in your basket are, inexplicably unavailable for delivery.  Despite the fact, that if you chose curbside delivery, they would cheerfully bring them to your car.  It's the weirdest thing.

In fact, I had the pods in my cart (when they were available) - didn't hit buy because I wanted to reach the threshold for free delivery.  But when I went back to add something to the cart, they had been removed.  So when I went back for the THIRD, magical time (i.e., hit the threshold), I noticed they were once again available for delivery so I added them in.  And then, somehow, received two packages of pods.  Either Target threw the original ones back in once they were available or I mistakenly bought two.  Who knows?

At any rate, what IS the deal with Melba Toast? (Again, with the awkward segue...this is what the pandemic has boiled down for me with the blog...awkward segues)

Do any of you even know what Melba Toast is?

I had never even heard of it until I married my husband many, many moons ago.

Well, guess what?  Apparently, there is a Melba Toast shortage.  The Husband looks every time he is in the grocery store and can never find it.  I found it ONCE at Target and had a couple of boxes delivered.  Is it available at Target anymore?

No, it is not.  And here I thought he was the only person in the world that knew what Melba Toast was and consumed it on a regular basis.

It is available on Amazon - for a price that I'm not willing to pay.

So, who is buying all the Melba Toast and why...THAT is the question, that AND why IT people randomly restrict access to servers without asking questions.

  1. Gigi,
It's those little frustrations that gnaw and gnaw and gnaw...just like a teething child clutching Melba toast. It's always good to have a Plan B when they run out of or forbid...whatever. Personally, I don't believe I've ever eaten Melba toast myself. Pods, either. Good luck with everything! Off to make dinner! Mona

  2. I used to love Melba Toast (picked up the habit from my mother) when dieting. They had them in various flavors too. I haven't looked in ages, but always thought that was one of those items that would never stop being available. Tell husband to try it with cream cheese. Yum. Of course, that cancels out the idea of using it for dieting purposes.

Let's see if this comment shows up eventually - and where it shows up. I'm beginning to think that my stuff goes straight into the ether and floats, unread, for eternity!

  3. I encountered melba toast as a teenage babysitter. Not before and not since. Curly just begged me to keep buying the ham lunchmeat I just bought at Costco. Of course I will, but Costco changes their inventory from time to time. No guarantee. Totally different from melba toast shortage at Target. Why indeed is it so hard to buy? Strange. Maybe someone discovered thst it helps clean things.

  4. I remember Melba toast but haven't thought of it for ages. You do come up with some of the strangest posts ever, Gigi. I smiled at this one and am glad you are doing okay.

  5. Why is there a Melba toast shortage? I love Melba toast!
I don't love Target online for some reason. They take forever to ship their items and I always get the wrong things sent to me. Never Melba toast either.

  7. I've not had Melba Toast in a billion years; totally forgot about it, so it's not me who is buying it up.
Can't help you on the IT or Target thought process, sorry. Keep your chin up, this week will probably bring even more HUH'S. :)

  8. Apparently the pandemic has blown up the sports card industry. Hubs went to Target the other day and saw an employee stocking the cards and the new signs saying "Limit 2 per person" (seriously, like it's TP or something) He bought his two limit and left the store. He later cam back thinking he'd grab another box since he rarely sees them stocked, and the ENTIRE shelves were wiped clean.

It had only been 30 minutes. What. The. (actual) Heck???

That being said, I can't find my laundry sanitizer anywhere. I'll be on the look out for Melba Toast if you look out for my laundry sanitizer. Deal?

  9. I have noticed the shortage of Melba toast as well I’ve been looking for it in Texas for three weeks and not finding it it’s my go to for cheese and cracker as the Melba toast accentuates the flavor of the cheese I hope to find more soon it’s a cool cracker
