Day Two - and What's Up With Blogger Now?!

Nothing new to report except the contracted company called and set up an appointment for Monday morning.

Frankly, I was shocked.  I had assumed we wouldn't be able to garner an appointment so soon; particularly since the whole issue arose so late in the afternoon yesterday.

With all the fans/borrowed AC units, the house isn't completely unbearable, so there's that.  We can't decide if we are hoping for the unit NOT to be dead dead or is officially dead and we are just waiting for the death certificate to be signed.  Either way, we know that the unit is either dead or at death's door and we'll have to deal with the hassle of laying it to rest sooner or later.  Currently, I'm leaning toward the diagnosis being dead dead and just getting it over with.

On to Blogger.  All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, ALL of the comments you are so kindly leaving are being put into quarantine - despite the fact that I do NOT have the "Moderate Comments" option on. Fellow Blogger users, is this something you are also experiencing?  Curious minds would like to know.

It's a puzzle, that's for sure.  And although, it wasn't an obvious fix, I finally figured out how to release the comments from quarantine.  So, that's TWO good things for today - we have an appointment to diagnose the AC and your comments are no longer quarantined (for now, anyway - who knows if this is going to be a regular thing or just a glitch).

So, I will end on that note - despite everything else, good things are there...sometimes we just have to actively look for them.

  1. Hmm, I haven’t had any quarantined comments, I don’t think. Do you get notified about them? Anyway, glad you have the appointment, and you’re doing okay in the meantime.

    1. For the most part, I do receive email notifications about comments (that's a whole 'nother issue - sometimes I do and sometimes I don't). But when I log onto Blogger to respond, they aren't visible on the blog - I have to go to the Comments section and ok each one before they become visible. Funnily enough, I had to release your latest comment on the last post but not this one.

    2. Weird! I usually reply to comments by email, but I looked at my recent posts and the comments I've been notified of all seem to be there. Technology!

    3. I used to reply by email but then I realized some of the responses weren't going to the recipient because they did not have an email connected to the comment (i.e., I was responding to a noreply-comment@blogger.com).

  2. So sorry to hear about your AC issue. Very stressful in the middle of an extremely hot summer. Glad the back-up options are making things bearable at least and very much hoping the appointment goes smoothly on Monday and you have a wonderfully quick, painless, and free (or inexpensive!) resolution to the issue based on the warranty.

    1. If our sweet neighbors hadn't stepped up we would be roasting. I'm really hoping for a good (and free) resolution tomorrow.

  3. We are some temps in the eighties coming this weekend, which is fine for some people, but I prefer sixties and seventies! We'll make it, though. I too hope your unit is dead dead so you can get a new one. I am not having any issues with Blogger at the moment. :-)

    1. We are headed for the 90s next week; with or without AC I'm not looking forward to that at all.

  4. YOUR AC DIED. Yikes. I cannot even imagine what that's like for you in such heat! Fingers crossed it is fixed soon.

  5. I hope all goes well with your appointment tomorrow and you get the DEAD DEAD diagnosis with A NEW A/C soon. All I can say is: I don't miss blogger. 😳

    1. Thanks, Suz. Actually, this is the first hiccup I've had with Blogger in a long while and the glitch seems to have resolved itself since I posted.

  6. Hooray for the appointment. I do not think that I am missing any comments on Blogger. I do not use the email much that is linked to my blog, so I usually just rely on my comments section to ve accurate. Maybe that is a mistake?

    1. If the comments are showing up on your posts then you are probably fine. I only noticed the problem because when I clicked the Comments section on the dashboard, I could see comments but when I went to the actual post, they weren't there until I went back to the Comments and figured out how to release them.

  7. Blogger has been goofy for me lately in that some comments come to my email and some do not even though I set it up to be notified by email for all comments. It wouldn't surprise me if the Google Overlords are simply not supporting Blogger anymore and are going to eventually terminate it. It makes them no money, really, and it's an outdated platform in their eyes. I hope that's not the case.

    1. Blogger does that to me too - some comments come to my email others don't. Lately, it's been consolidating the comments that do come via email into one email string...which, why? I agree, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they just dropped it...leaving us all to scramble - or give up.

  8. I hope you can get the AC fixed quickly! The heating/cooling unit we have for our house is a lemon. The one for the upstairs works fine but the one for the downstairs has given us problems since we built the house in 2006. We are on very friendly terms with the company that installed it and Brian has to visit us at least once a year to repair it. But as it is already 16 years old now, the day is coming when they are both going to have to be replaced.

  9. I am behind here, so I am hoping that once I catch up to today, I will learn that your AC has been repaired and you are basking in cool air. Blog commenting systems are so frustrating!!! I have some blogs I can only comment on if I use Chrome, and others I can only comment on if I use Safari. (Or maybe it's more apt to say "can still comment on if I use Safari," since I use Safari as my default browser.) And SO MANY comments just seem to disappear after I post them!I hope they show up eventually, not that I am dropping life-changing insights or anything. But I like comments and assume other bloggers like them too!
