My Only Post (Probably) About CBWC

I love seeing all the photos y'all are posting for the Cool Bloggers Walking Club hosted by Elisabeth.  And wanted to join in on the fun but seeing as I get up ridiculously early and get out to walk when it's still pretty much dark, I don't have many photos to share.  But here are a few that I've been able to snap either as the sun is coming up or, on days like today, when I've slept in a bit and got a late start

The best part about getting out so early?
Watching dawn break.

I just happened to look up and caught
these clouds reflecting the dawn

Why my walks have been so "crunchy" lately

A perfect specimen

NC Fall in all it's glory.

Seeing as I am still looking for work one would think I'd go out later - but no.  This is something I prefer to get - not "done" with because I do enjoy my walks (even if it is the same route over and over at the local park) - done early enough in the day that I don't feel like my whole day has been wasted or bifurcated.  I go early enough to come home, get showered, dressed and ready for the rest of the day without feeling like I've got a late start.  If I'm lucky, I've walked, showered, dressed, etc. and good to go by 8:30 am.

Now, when the cold comes - and it's coming, I can feel it in my bones without having to look at the calendar, I have a walking pad on standby.  I know it won't be the same as walking outside but I won't have the excuse "it's TOO COLD to walk."  And I'm hoping my recent obsession with audiobooks will offset that.

So even if I'm not posting weekly about CBWC - know that I'm out there walking with you.  But most likely, I'm walking in the dark.

And before you ask, no I'm not uncomfortable walking alone in the wee morning dark.  Shockingly enough, there are plenty of others (regulars I see often) out there stumbling around in the dark that makes it feel quite safe.

  1. I use a headlamp when walking to the bus in the dark. It's perfect and keeps me safe(er).

    1. Several of the regulars I see use headlamps. I don't feel the need for one due to the streetlights and the fact that it isn't pitch black when I walk.

  2. Gigi! You're here! It's great to see this - I'm glad you're in the walking club too. I also feel fine about walking in the dark, although sometimes there is wildlife that I don't want to startle.
I am so sorry you're still looking for work. Ugh. This must be so disheartening.

    1. Yes, Nicole. I'm still around, albeit more quietly lately. Most likely because everything is so disheartening right now.

  4. I'm glad you're not out there alone. I'm not a morning person, so I enjoy walking after dinner, and since it's getting dark earlier, I'm shoveling my food down to make it to my walk.
Lovely photos, my friend. I hope you find the perfect job soon!!

    1. Shockingly enough, Suz. I'm not really a morning person either. I refuse to walk until I've had my coffee and looked at the newspaper. But I do find that when I come home after the walk, I am more ready to face the day. Thanks, xo

  5. It is lovely to walk as the sun rises, but dang - so early. I do get the get it done early mentality, but I've not been in a great 'get up and go' mode lately myself. The cold is coming. I won't be walking in Chicago burbs when it gets too cold. The ice would appear in all the wrong places. I so hope a job crops up and it all works out - soon.

  6. I've been up early lots this week but it's too hard to get away because of getting the kids ready for school. It does sound lovely to have it "done" early in the day. I feel like it would energize the rest of my day if I did it before breakfast. Another season of life.

I love, love, love fall foliage. The colours! The sound! The smell! All of it.
